Kids of the 80s, grown up with gameboys and computers, which were never working as expected and troubleshooting was the major part of the fun. With monkeys on city rooftops which were throwing bananas at each other and boot floppy disks to start the computer with a different memory configuration we learned how electricity can be used to store and process information.
Times changed and putting the romantic nostalgia aside, nowadays we would feel only little joy in troubleshooting a hand tailored and configured machine. We love infrastructure as a code, we love performance, we love reliability. Where each computer becomes a part of a larger system.
